Rosita Extra-Virgin Cod Liver Oil (EVCLO) is produced in small batches from wild cod (Gadus morhua) sustainably harvested from the pristine waters of Norway. An exclusive cold-process artisan method extracts the oil and preserves the delicate nutrients that are naturally present in wild cod livers. The resultant oil is as pure and authentic as it was for our Nordic ancestors hundreds of years ago.
Rosita Real Foods™ EVCLO is specially prepared to withstand temperatures through shipment for periods of more than a full month. The bottles are flushed with nitrogen to avoid oxidation, and do not need cold packs or ice during shipping. Once you receive your oil, it is important to allow the bottle to cool down to fridge temperature (4°C = 39°F) before opening.
WHAT DOES EVCLO LIQUID TASTE LIKE?
Our Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil is a pure natural healthy product which most people find to be mild in taste. Nature determines how fishy it tastes and some batches are stronger than others. Other "standardised oils" go through very industrial manufacturing processes which not only strip out the flavour but also key benefits of taking the oil in the first place. You may choose to wash it down with chilled water or natural juice to get rid of the fishy taste, alternatively you can have it just before a meal. The Rosita method includes a natural filtration process that takes out more of the fishy tasting proteins but retains the array of beneficial fats and the all important natural vitamins. Please remember to give the bottle a gentle shake before use to distribute the different fats that may settle into layers within the bottle - including the rosemary oil which may be unpleasant otherwise.
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS OF EVCLO?
Rosita Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil Liquid Ingredients: Wild and raw extra virgin cod liver oil, antioxidants (traces of rosemary oil extract & non-GMO natural mixed tocopherols).
EVCLO contains Omega 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 11 fats, vitamins, plus other fat-soluble nutrients. These nutrients, including vitamins A and D are 'naturally occurring' and never added to our oil.
No artificial colours, flavourings, preservatives, soy. Gluten and dairy free.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF EVCLO?
Rosita Real Foods Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil contains a complete range of raw omega fats including omega 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 11 fats. It is particularly rich in the long-chain omega-3s (EPA and DHA) which are also known as essential fats because the body cannot make them from scratch. Our cod liver oil also contains a great natural source of Vitamin A and Vitamin D. It is free from synthetic nutrients and contains all of the potent, naturally occurring biologically active nutrients which make it effective, and in the exact form present in a living codfish liver. For example, vitamin A is predominately in the retinol form and vitamin D is predominately in the cholecalciferol (D3) form. Choosing the natural form over a synthetic version means the nutrients are highly bioavailable and easy to absorb, digest and assimilate in your body.
IS ROSITA COD LIVER OIL FROM A SUSTAINABLE SOURCE?
Our ethos is to work with nature to supply the highest quality health-giving oils available. Rosita products are sustainably sourced from wild fish stocks in the pristine waters of Norway. EVCLO is a "living oil" derived from wild and abundant Norwegian codfish. It is produced in small batches from Wild Cod (Gadus morhua) sustainably harvested from the pristine waters of Norway.
HOW IS THE OIL EXTRACTED FROM THE COD LIVER?
Rosita Real Foods oils are pure natural premium Extra-Virgin oils. We do not use any heat, pressure or metal containers or treatment in the Rosita Method, and this is very important. These oils are very delicate and must not be heated, extracted through pressure or exposed to air or metal in the process. The fish and extraction process receive special treatment, with each liver inspected and only the best chosen and placed in a dark, oxygen-free environment. The oil is naturally released when the cod livers are exposed to temperatures slightly higher than the ocean, and great care is taken to monitor this process to ensure the oils retain their freshness and purity. Fish liver residuals are separated from the raw oil by use of a decanter and contaminants are removed without the use of heat or chemicals using a patented method and naturally occuring material. The oil is then placed in cold storage in the absence of oxygen and light, which keeps the oil fresh while it is tested for purity before being bottled.
HOW MUCH EVCLO LIQUID SHOULD I TAKE?
Suggested serving size for adults is 1 teaspoon daily. We recommend you take this in the morning as EVCLO contains naturally occurring Vitamin D which may impact sleep quality if taken later in the day.
CAN I TAKE EVCLO IF I’M PREGNANT?
Many pregnant and nursing mothers take our Rosita Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil, as the naturally occurring vitamins and omega fatty acids are supportive of infant and child development. At the same time, we recognize the need for pregnant mums and new mothers to understand and be cognizant of everything they’re putting into their bodies. This means responsible and safe dosing, particularly as EVCLO contains fat-soluble vitamin A, which is also known as retinol.
We recommend you consult with your physician before taking this product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and do not exceed more than 3 softgels per serving per day or ¼ teaspoon of liquid EVCLO daily.
CAN CHILDREN TAKE EVCLO?
If you or your child has never consumed fish or fish oil, or if you suspect a food allergy, consult your doctor prior to using a fish body oil/fish liver oil product. As an additional insurance, you could also rub a small amount of Cod Liver Oil into a small area on the skin, such as the lower leg.
CAN I GIVE EVCLO TO MY BABY?
Rosita Real Foods EVCLO a pure and natural healthy fish oil which provides a great range of beneficial fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins. If you are fortunate enough to be able to breastfeed, then one way to feed the baby the oil is taking it yourself. The beneficial fats and fat soluble vitamins should also pass to the baby though the breast milk. Once they are a little older please consider the Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil directly for them.
We recommend you consult with your physician before taking this product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and do not exceed more than 3 softgels per serving per day or ¼ teaspoon of liquid EVCLO daily.
HOW DO I CHOOSE BETWEEN THE EVCLO LIQUIDS AND EVCLO SOFTGELS?
Rosita Real Foods EVCLO a pure and natural healthy fish oil which provides a great range of beneficial fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins. Nature determines how fishy the liquid tastes and we do understand that some people don’t like taking the liquid form. Our EVCLO softgel capsules are well suited to people who need to take their oils on-the-go or want to avoid the fishy taste of the liquid. EVCLO softgels do not require refrigeration and are small in size and coated in 100% fish gelatin softgel capsule, so can be easily swallowed like a pill. They work well for children, or those who don’t have access to refrigeration at the time that they take the oil. We also have customers who like to use the softgels when travelling. The softgels are more expensive per serving however, due to the high cost of production on this item, which is why many of our customers select the liquid oil for everyday use.
IS ROSITA EVCLO SAFE TO USE?
Rosita Real Foods Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil contains the naturally occurring Omega fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins that would be found in a living fish. Every batch of EVCLO is tested for contaminants before being bottled for sale. Independent third party testing has consistently shown that our oils are free of heavy metals and other organic contaminants such as dioxins and PCBs.
STORAGE
Long term storage for unopened bottles:
Fridge (4°C/39°F) = 1 year Freezer (-19°C/2.2°F) = 3 years
Always keep in dark storage
Unopened bottles can be stored in a freezer to improve shelf life
Once opened, keep in fridge (4°C/39°F) and use within 3 months
May become thick & cloudy when refrigerated or frozen: gently shake before use.
MY EVCLO LIQUID ARRIVED WARM, IS IT OK?
You should not be concerned about the quality of your oil as it is perfectly designed for extended shipping times. The bottles are flushed with nitrogen to avoid oxidation. EVCLO liquid contains natural Vitamin E and a drop of Rosemary oil, which helps to extend the shelf life during transit and storage.Oxidation can only occur in the presence of oxygen, and is accelerated by heat and light. It is therefore very important to return the EVCLO Liquid oil to fridge temperature BEFORE opening it. Do not chill the Softgels in the fridge however as the condensation can cause them to melt and leak, instead store these in a cool dark environment. We always want our customers to have the oil in the very best condition, and so we have the option of adding thermal packaging in extreme weather (if for some reason your package is severely delayed), and whilst it doesn't always ensure that the oil arrives COLD, it does help buffer the oil from excessive temperatures. This is therefore particularly helpful for customers who live in very hot countries, or customers ordering during very hot temperatures in heat of summer or simply customers who want extra reassurance for peace of mind.
HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY EVCLO LIQUID, AND HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
When you receive your oil, we recommend you chill this before opening the bottle. You will find that there are 2 dates on the label on the bottom of the label. The first is the best before date if the bottle had been stored at fridge temperature (1 year from production) and the second date is the best before date if it has been frozen (3 years from production). At Rosita, we FREEZE the oil in the deep freeze as soon as we receive it from Norway. We believe that the oil deteriorates only very slowly in the frozen state but we do need to put a shelf life on it which is why we state 3 years. Oxidation can only occur in the presence of oxygen, and is accelerated by heat and light. We safeguard the product by Nitrogen flushing the bottle (to remove the oxygen), adding a natural Vitamin E and a drop of Rosemary oil, and then freezing the oil really helps to preserve it much longer. The bottle should be excellent condition for up to 12 months at fridge temperature, however if you don't intend to use the oil for a few months, you may refreeze unopened bottles. Once opened, consumed within 3 months. The oil may become thick and cloudy when cold, gently shake the bottle before use. The key thing to preserve your oil is getting cold BEFORE opening it and using it within a few months after opening.

What does Rosita® taste like?
Rosita® Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil is fresh, wild caught and raw — from the clean waters of the North Atlantic. Given all of these unique factors, it tastes like fresh fish! Nothing is done to alter the taste or smell of the oil. No flavorings are added.
Many people enjoy the taste, while others may find it very fishy.
Please keep in mind, there’s nothing like it on the market, so Rosita®’s inherent taste is unlike the cod liver oils you can pick up at the grocery store. An industrially processed cod liver oil that tastes like lemon or is bland is likely is devoid of its proper nutrients. Here, you can be assured that the unprocessed, synthetic-free cod liver oil you get from Rosita® is as fresh as the day it was bottled.
If you’re really sensitive to the taste of fresh fish, we also offer Rosita® Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil softgels, which have very little to no taste at all.
What is Rosita®Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil?
Rosita® Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil is a real Norwegian cod liver oil that’s fresh, raw and handcrafted from wild livers via a gentle, cold extraction technique that’s completely natural. The oil is completely unrefined and produced under the total absence of heat, a process that protects its nutritional value. Further, No chemicals, solvents and mechanical devices are ever used during the extraction process. This type of cod liver oil is both precious and rare — something that’s almost impossible to achieve on a commercial level.
Should I take the liquid or the softgels?
Rosita® Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil is exactly the same regardless of the form you choose to purchase. Both the softgels and liquid have a full spectrum of omega fatty acids, high levels of vitamins A and D in their natural, unadulterated form and are raw and fresh. In terms of the milligrams per bottle, the liquid is more economical. At roughly ½ a teaspoon a day, the liquid can last two months, whereas the bottle of softgels will last a little under one month. Customers that choose to purchase the softgels do so mostly because they want to avoid the taste of fresh fish. The softgels are also convenient, as they do not require refrigeration and are great for travel. Lastly, the softgels have the added benefit of being made from fish collagen. Fish collagen is more easily absorbed than bovine collagen (which often comprises the softgel casing of other supplements on the market) and is supportive of skin, hair, nail and joint health.*
Is Rosita®the only producer?
Yes. We at Rosita® have had positive comments regarding the authenticity of our Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil from a variety of marine specialists. We’re the only producer of genuine, raw Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil. With other commercial “natural” brands, even if a cold-pressed extraction procedure is used to produce cod liver oil, a heat associated method is still required to purify the oil of contaminants. We are also the only company using a heat-free and chemical-free natural purifying method. This unique method makes use of a substance naturally occurring in the ocean that has the ability to attract and bind to contaminants like a magnet. This substance, together with its bound contaminants, can then be gently removed from the oil in a similar way that sediments are removed from a fine wine.
What is the major research that supports the use of Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil?
Cod liver oil has traditionally been consumed as part of the diet, in particular, by people living in northern coastal areas of Norway. It was crucial to survival, especially the cold, dark and stormy conditions. It was also said to support people with health issues including rheumatism, aching joints and stiff muscles.* At the beginning of the 20th century, scientists established that cod liver oil was antirachitic, and so mothers would give it to their children to support their immune systems.* Modern scientific studies lend credence to the historical views.
It turns out cod liver oil is a nutrient-rich whole food. Unadulterated cod liver oil is a time-honored source of vitamins A, D3, and long-chain omega-3 fatty acids, especially docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA).
My Rosita® liquid is cloudy, why?
Rosita® Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil is a pure, real food product that’s raw, unprocessed and unadulterated with no additives. It also contains rich omega fatty acids. Because of these factors, it can get cloudy when refrigerated (although the cloudiness can vary from batch to batch). If your Rosita® liquid is cloudy, just let it rest on the counter for a couple of minutes and give it a little shake before taking your dose.
Why are there little specks in my oil?
Rosita is unadulterated and does not strip out any of the nutrients. There may be little specks or particles floating in the oil. This may be waxes, stearins or other types of naturally-occuring fat. This is all completely normal and natural.
