This ancient Vinifera originates in Georgia and is one of the oldest grape varieties in the world. Meaning “red stem” in Georgian, it is an elegant wine, well balanced in sweetness and acidity. For the production of top quality wines its yield per hectare should not exceed seven or eight tonnes.
